Selected Review Highlights
Three Weeks
by Helen Freshwater
This show is haunted by the ghosts of performances lost, silenced and stifled before they reached the stage, and populated by spectral characters drifting through a writer's unrealised dreams. Based on the life of Mikhail Bulgakov, Russian playwright and novelist working in the shadow of the Stalinist purgesm it weaves its charming tale around a group of Moscow writers and artists. Music intertwines and illuminates powerful performances from a talented ensemble.
Consistently playful, yet darkened with the bitter frustration produced by the tight, choking reins of censorship, this performance is surely a fitting tribute to Bulgakov's work.
The Scotsman
by Bonnie Lee
A devised script with kaleidoscopic, phantasmagoric ensemble scenes... The cast undoubtedly have a flair for and control of ensemble playing.
Radio Forth
A compelling account of creativity crushed under the wheels of a dictatorship.
